Bromhead’s Busker Bus!

Tramlines Times manages to catch up with Bromhead’s frontman Tim Hampton, one of this year’s curates for the acts aboard the Tramlines Busker Bus! We asked him how the bus idea came about,

“We were asked to be the curators of the Busker Bus about a month ago,” explains Tim, “probably because we’ve been doing some cheeky guerrilla gigs in and around town.”

Other passengers on the bus include ex-Little Man Tate frontman now gone solo Jon Windle, Skint & Demoralised vocalist Matt Abbott, Alvarez Kings, Toby Foster and Pete McKee’s comical ukulele act the Everly Pregnant Brothers, Cats for Peru, Neil McSweeney and ex-Harrisons frontman Jubby Taylor.

“I’m well excited,” smiles Tim when asked whether he’s looking forward to Tramlines, “Last year there was a great community element to it, getting to see new bands and just people getting together and catching up. I didn’t stop talking for 2 days!”

Tim and Drummer Dan Potter have been working on new Bromhead’s material lately, with an album planned for release later this year. “We’ve been working with the Pixies’ Manager, Richard Jones, who we met a couple of years ago. We started forging some ideas and talking about taking things to the next level and here we are”

“One of his ideas was to release one song per month for a free download and that’s what we’ve been doing since last September.” Fans can download these singles by visiting http://www.bromheads.tv.

Previous listeners to Bromheads may be surprised by the bands change in direction, notably since bassist Johnno left 2 years ago. “You can expect a more melodic rock’roll style,” confirms Tim. Long gone then are the quirky lyrical jaunts to McDonalds, replaced instead by three-chord tributes to Chuck Berry and Li’l Richard.
